My best addresses list goes on … Let’s talk about an exceptional gourmet restaurant : “Food and Wine” (F + W) in Athens.
Located in Kolonaki and open since September 2013, its Chef Olivier Campanha has quickly imposed his style and has built his wide clientele…
Immediately, I liked the decor and the very stylish eco-chic atmosphere : large white tables and chairs, vegetable wall, natural wood, kitchen partly opened, exposed glass cellar for wine and a Summer terrace, nicely laid out.
The French touch is made by the Chef Olivier Campanha, former right hand of Pierre Gagnaire, French Michelin starred Chef, who will propose a sophisticated and creative menu, using sometimes molecular cuisine. Menus are adapted to the seasons and change with the events of the year (Easter, Christmas, Valentine’s day..).
When I went there last December, I have chosen a particular “special oyster” menu. It was a beautiful surprise because it is really difficult to find oysters in Athens, so enjoying fine clear was already an event 🙂
F + W also offers a menu “black truffle Special” consisting of seven courses and seven wines truffle, which will be freshly grated in front of you.
You can also choose “à la carte” : F+W – Carte d’Hiver
Foie gras, for example, is served roasted with julienne beans, a red fruit sauce and caramelized pecan nuts.
Tuna is grilled and served with a lemon and pastis butter, a pear and ginger chutney, baby spinach, sweet and sour sauce, Sisho leaves (Japanese plant), and steamed Pockchoy (Chinese cabbage). For dessert, I tried the “Almost Perfect”, praline accompanied by a lemon cream, pineapple and lime compote and whipped cream with a light taste of almonds, it was a delight 😉
I would add that a very nice wine list is proposed. The sommelier Giannis Makris, well-nowned in Athens, will perfectly help you.
And what makes it even better, the prices are fair for this range of restaurant. Generally, the menus are from 45 to 65 euros per person and the menu “Special Truffles” is 85 euros including wine.
I will say no more … except you just have to try 🙂 For more information :
